![]() When Amy Meyers takes the stage it’s like joy walks right into the room.
A native Texan who grew up training classically in opera and majoring in theater at Northwestern, Meyers has a voice that falls somewhere between Shawn Colvin and Sarah McLachlan. Her deft vocal phrasing and richly textured delivery separate her from the average singer-songwriter, and her buoyantly refreshing songs make her a memorable performer among fans from 2 to 92. Lyrically, Meyers effortlessly summons the landscape of failed relationships, personal expectations, and lost summers, and seamlessly blends these subjects into songs that soothe the savage soul. Her songs are emotionally honest slices of daily life that don't attempt to mythologize or mask reality - good and bad. She is a dynamic performer - both playfully energetic and draw-you-in sincere. A seasoned player on both piano and guitar, her performances are rich with variety. With her infectious melodies and straight from the heart lyrics, her songs will have you singing, dancing, crying, or laughing. Amy performs as a solo artist, with her band, and as the keyboardist and backing vocalist for The Judea Eden Band. She is also a co-founder and member of the pop/jazz/rock trio Bittersweet which released its debut CD in Dec 2009. Recognition and features include numerous West Coast Songwriters Best Performer and Best Song Awards, KFOG featured artist, KTVU Mornings On 2, KPFA Local Artist Feature, West Coast Live, and Lillith Fair Competition Finalist. Her songs have been played nationally on Folk, College and AAA radio. Austin's popular folk/pop star Sara Hickman licensed the rights to Amy's song "Good" (from Amy's Strange & Beautiful album) and reproduced it on her 2006 release, Motherlode. |

As Peter Allen’s mother, Marion Woolnough (in Boy From Oz), Amy Meyers did a spectacular job with a very touching portrayal… plus knockout singing on “Don’t Cry Out Loud”.
-CAHWYGUY Theater Review Blog “Meyers is HAPPY (or at least, content), and if she isn't, she sure knows how to pull the wool over the eyes. You hear it in her voice. Better yet, you hear it in her music.” “Amy's evocative lyrics pack many emotions, situations, and characters into just a few lines. Her voice covers a wide spectrum, yet always yields to her understated control over her performance.” |
